LAKEWOOD RANCH, Fla. – UAB women's soccer (7-5-5) lost in the quarterfinals of the AAC Championship, 2-0, to No. 4 Rice (12-5-2).

In the first half, the Blazers outshot the Owls 9-5 with five shots on goal for UAB. The score remained 0-0 heading into the half.

In the 70^th minute Rice took a free kick and found Sophie Zhang to put the Owls in the lead at 1-0. Avery Berryman had a chance equalize the match in the 73^rd minute, but the Rice goalkeeper was able to make the save. The Owls then extended their lead 2-0 when Jules Johnston netted a goal in the 75^th minute off another free kick.

In the 79^th minute Berryman had two shots on goal, but both were saved by the Rice keeper.

The UAB women's soccer team finished its second season in the American Athletic Conference with a 7-5-5 record overall and a 4-2-4 conference record.
