Blazers Return Home to Host UAB Beach Classic

BIRMINGHAM – The Blazer beach volleyball program will host the UAB Beach Classic this Saturday and Sunday, March 2-3, at the UAB beach courts.
UAB welcomes Conference USA opponents No. 15 Florida Atlantic and UTEP, along with UT Martin and Eastern Kentucky. Both FAU and UT Martin have made the NCAA National Championship Tournament in back-to-back seasons.
The Blazers will face UTEP (12 p.m.) and Florida Atlantic (4 p.m.) on Saturday, followed by UT Martin (2 p.m.) and EKU (4 p.m.) on Sunday.
UAB opened the season last week by going 2-2 at Grand Canyon. Arden Copping and Jasmine Haas on Court 1 and Jessica Ennis and Isabel Day on Court 2 each went 3-1 to lead the Blazers. Copping and Haas ended the tournament with a three-set victory over No. 14 Grand Canyon on Court 1.
Florida Atlantic and UT Martin are also both 2-2, while EKU had a perfect 4-0 opening weekend and UTEP enters the tournament with a mark of 1-3.
Admission into Blazer Beach is free and open to the public. The courts are located at the corner of 6th Ave South and 13th Street on campus.
Concessions will be available along with food trucks each day.
