UAB Baseball Drops Game Two Against Belmont

NASHVILLE - The UAB baseball team dropped the second game against Belmont University. Nine total runs were scored in the 1st inning.

UAB continued scoring early in games, with two runs in the 1st. The Blazers have scored in the 1st inning in four straight games now. Reed Latimer reaches on an error and scores Jake Smallwood and Gavin Lewis Jr.

Belmont scored seven 1st inning runs for a total of nine runs by both teams. Belmont scored those seven runs on five hits and one error. Belmont then added another run in the 2nd inning to lead 8-2.

UAB added a run in the 3rd on a solo shot to right field by Reed Latimer. The Blazers would not score another run, only hitting the ball four times.

Belmont scored three runs in the 5th and 6th inning on one hit, and the Bruins pitching staff only allowed four hits. Two of the UAB runs were unearned.

The Bruins were led by Jack Rando who went 2 for 4 with three RBIs. For UAB, Reed Latimer went 1 for 3 with three RBIs and a home run.

UAB pitched nine different pitchers with a notable performance by Carson Knight who finished with three Ks in one inning pitched.

The score ended at UAB 3, Belmont 11.

UAB will face Belmont in the series finale between the teams, tomorrow at 1 PM.
