Men’s Golf Opens 2024-25 Season on Sunday at Argent Financial Classic

BIRMINGHAM – The UAB men's golf team opens the Charlie Hoyle era on Sunday at the Argent Financial Classic hosted by Louisiana Tech at Squire Creek Country Club in Choudrant, La.
The Blazers look to defend their team title from a year ago and have won this event three times in the last six year (2018, 2020, 2023).
UAB will be competing against 16 other teams this weekend as the field includes Abilene Christian, Houston, Jacksonville State, Lamar, Little Rock, Louisiana, Louisiana Tech, Middle Tennessee, Nicholls, North Texas, Rice, South Alabama, Southern Miss, Troy, ULM and WKU.
Hoyle will field a team that consists of senior Paul Bruce, freshman Jonathan Ericsson, sophomore Will Stelt, junior John Bruce and sophomore Morgan Slaton. Additionally, freshman Bernhard Koster will compete as an individual.
The Argent Financial is a three-day event with 18 holes scheduled for each day. The course is a par 72 that plays 7,105 yards and the Blazers are paired with Southern Miss and Louisiana in the opening round.
