Women's Golf Opens Spring Slate Against Samford

BIRMINGHAM – The UAB women's golf team opens its spring slate in a head-to-head match against Samford on Saturday, Feb. 1, at the Hoover Country Club. The Blazers and Bulldogs tee off at 11:15 a.m.
The Blazers will field all nine players, and the starting team will consist of the top five players with four scores counting. UAB's top five on Saturday includes Lauren Gilchrist, Tais Moreno, Anna Krieger, Ava Schwartz and Grace Sinclair.
The Blazers open spring play with an overall record of 25-43. Senior Brooke Wagner led the team with a 75.1 stroke average. Sophomore Tais Moreno set a career-low 69 (-3) at The Judson in October.
