Blazers Head to Nashville for Music City Challenge

BIRMINGHAM - UAB Track & Field travels to Nashville on Friday and Saturday to participate in the Music City Challenge hosted by Vanderbilt. The two day meet will be held at Vanderbilt's Indoor Track Facility.
THE LAST TIME OUT
Christiana Mudd set the UAB school record for points in a Heptathlon with 3832. The senior won four of the five events and set her PR in the Long Jump and the Shot Put. Several other Blazers also set their PRs in their respective events.
THE FIELD
UAB is part of a packed field in Nashville this weekend. Along with the Blazers and Vanderbilt, Alabama, Belmont, Cincinnati, Colorado, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Jacksonville State, Lipscomb, Louisville, Memphis, Mississippi State, Ole Miss, Purdue, South Alabama, Southern Miss, Tennessee, Tennessee State, Tennessee Tech, Troy, UCF, UTSA are among teams in attendance this weekend.
HISTORY IN THE MAKING
Birthe Franck-Petersen continues to solidify her case as one of the all-time greats in UAB Track & Field history. The senior from Norway holds the top seven indoor Shot Put throws in school history, and eight of the top 10. Additionally, she holds four of the top six indoor weight throws.
NEW FACES SHOWING OUT
The Blazers have several newcomers on this year's team, and each have had no problem making an immediate impact. Hope Foster (2x), Destiny Roper (2x), Christiana Mudd (2x), and Leticia Quingostas have all recorded appearances in the top 10 in school history in their respective events.
