Beach Volleyball to Play at FIU on Wednesday

BIRMINGHAM – Winners of four-straight and seven of its last eight matches, the UAB beach volleyball team kicks off a big spring break trip with a match at No. 19 FIU on Wednesday morning. First serve is set for 9:30 a.m. ET/8:30 a.m. CT in Miami.
At 8-3, the Blazers are off to their best start in school history and will be majorly tested this week with five matches, three of which come against nationally ranked opponents.
Following the trip to FIU, the Blazers make the short drive to Boca Raton where they will face No. 20 Georgia State and Florida Gulf Coast on Friday, followed by Tampa and No. 13 Florida Atlantic on Saturday at Pompano Beach.
UAB is coming off a perfect 4-0 weekend at The March To May in Birmingham which included sweeps over Houston Christian, EKU and New Orleans, and a dramatic 3-2 victory over North Alabama.
UAB's Court 1 pair of Jasmine Haas and Olivia Stant have won 10 matches in a row and own a team-best 10-1 record. On Court 5, Addison Atkins and Ashley Torsone are 8-0 together as a pair and clinched the win against UNA with a 15-13 third set victory. Additionally, the Court 4 pair of Kléa Sirois and Olivia Chychrun also went 4-0 last weekend and did not drop a set. Those two are off to a 9-2 start this season.
