Franck-Petersen Sets School Record in Shot Put, Several Blazers Set Season-Bests

BIRMINGHAM - UAB Track & Field hosted the UAB Spring Invitational on Friday and Saturday at the UAB Track & Field Complex. The Blazers honored six seniors in Saturday's Senior Day festivities.
In the Javelin Throw, Mya McDanal finished in second with a mark of 39.98m.
The Blazer quartet of Christiana Mudd, Hannah Malone, Jasmine Dereje, and Gabby Washington won the 4x200m relay with a time of 1:38.23. The Blazers 'B' team, consisting of Juliana Patton, Leticia Quingostas, Destiny Roper, and Eriyanna Reed placed third with a time of 1:40.34.
Katie Keur made her Track season debut on Friday in the 3000m race. The sophomore placed third with a time of 10:48.71. Kaitlyn Wende finished 4th coming in at 10:58.59.
In the Pole Vault, Victoria Freeland notched her season-best mark of 3.60m. Noelle Hambrick vaulted to a mark of 3.45m.
Juliana Patton achieved her season-best in the Long Jump with a mark of 5.41m, finishing sixth out of 27. Corinne Ball placed 8th with a mark of 5.30m.
Hope Foster placed fifth in the High Jump. The freshman finished at 1.58m.
The Blazers' 4x100 team consisting of Destiny Roper, Gabby Washington, Hannah Malone, and Eriyanna Reed placed third in the race. The quartet finished in 46.34 which is their season-best. The time currently stands as the 77th best time in D1 this season.
Birthe Franck-Peterson made history again on Saturday as the senior tossed her Outdoor Personal Best of 13.75m in the Shot Put which set a new school record in her final home meet of her decorated career.
Franck-Petersen also placed fourth in the Hammer Throw with a mark of 47.55m.
The Green and Gold had a trio of good finishes in the 400m Hurdles. Jasmine Dereje finished second with a time of 1:00.11. Leticia Quingostas placed fifth with a time of 1:02.33. Right behind her was Nessa Duren who finished in 1:04.47.
Hannah Malone placed third in the 200m race with a time of 24.50.
The Blazers hit the road next weekend as they travel to Gainesville, Florida to compete in the Florida Relays hosted by the Gators.
