BIRMINGHAM – The UAB beach volleyball team concludes the regular season this Saturday with one match at North Alabama. First serve in Florence is set for 12 p.m.
The Blazers enter the contest at 18-10 overall and are in the midst of their best season in program history. With a minimum of three matches remaining, UAB eyes its first 20-win season ever.
UAB has won six matches in a row and is led by the three-time reigning Conference USA Pair of the Week Jasmine Haas and Olivia Stant who have a record of 23-5 together on Court 1. Their 23 wins have established a new school record for most overall wins, most Court 1 wins, and most wins by a pair in a single season.
Graduate transfer Klea Sirois is also 23-5 this season and is sharing the spotlight with UAB's Court 1 pair as she will go down as having one of the best seasons in school history as well. Sirois is 11-2 on Court 3 and 12-3 on Court 4. She and her partner Lauren Cairo have a record of 14-2 together this season.
This Saturday is a rematch from early March when UAB defeated North Alabama in dramatic fashion, 3-2. With the match tied 2-2, UAB was able to win on Court 5 in the third set 15-13 for the team victory. North Alabama currently has an overall record of 16-12.
Following the match at North Alabama, UAB heads to Youngsville, Louisiana for the Conference USA Championship in hopes of earning the automatic berth in the NCAA Championship. The CUSA Tournament is scheduled for April 24-26.
