Men’s Soccer Preview: Clemson

CLEMSON S.C. – The UAB men's soccer team will travel to South Carolina for a matchup against No. 6 Clemson (1-0-1) on Friday at 6:00 p.m. CT.
UAB is coming off a 0-1 defeat at the hands of ACC opponent Louisville, after being out shot 11-8. UAB only had one shot on goal, but a slew of chances that put the Cardinals on their heels. The Blazers had a five-match unbeaten streak against Louisville before the 1-0 loss.
UAB heads to South Carolina for a game against Clemson and then on Monday they will play USC Upstate. The Blazers will play four out of the next five games on the road, traveling to S.C., Georgia, and Florida.
Second Year Staff
New Head Coach David Lilly brought in three assistant coaches, including two from East Tennessee State in Kyle Findlay and former player Cole Hunter. Adam Reakes came to Birmingham after a season at Wofford where he faced ETSU in the SoCon.
All-Conference Players
UAB returns Mathis Richter (Freshman of the Year and All-Freshman Team), Tony Kim (Second Team All-Conference), Ole Jessen (All-Freshman Team). Mathic Richter was also named to the American Preseason All-Conference team for the 2025 season.
Scouting the Tigers
Clemson has started the season 1-0-1 with a tie to Indiana and a win against South Carolina. Nathan Richmond leads the Tigers with four points on the year on two goals. Ransford Gyan also has two goals on the season. In goal, Joseph Andema has played all 180 minutes with four saves and three goals against.
Series History
Clemson leads the series 3-2 with the last matchup coming in 2022 in Birmingham. The Tigers have won the last two games by a score of 2-0.
