BIRMINGHAM – The UAB men's soccer team is in South Carolina for a matchup against USC Upstate (1-1-1) on Monday at 5:00 p.m. CT.
UAB is coming off a 6-0 defeat at the hands of ACC opponent Clemson, after being outshot 16-8. UAB only had two shots on goal, but a slew of chances that put the Tigers on their heels.
The Blazers will play four out of the next five games on the road, traveling to S.C., Georgia, and Florida.
All-Conference Players
UAB returns Mathis Richter (Freshman of the Year and All-Freshman Team), Tony Kim (Second
Team All-Conference), Ole Jessen (All-Freshman Team). Mathis Richter was also named to the American Preseason All-Conference team for the 2025 season.
Scouting the Spartans
USC Upstate is 1-1-1 on the season with a win against South Carolina 2-1 last week. Earlier in the season they drew to Georgia State and lost to Liberty 3-1. The Spartans have been very accurate shooting, putting half of their shots on frame through three games. Freshman, Oscar Kelly leads the team with two goals in three games. Vitalis Takawaira Jr. and Lucas Bergfors both have an assist on the year.
Series History
UAB and USC Upstate have never played each other. This will be the first ever matchup.

USC Upstate played Georgia State earlier in the year, to a draw of 2-2. UAB will play Georgia State later next week.
