UAB Places 11th at Velvet Classic in Kentucky

PADUCAH, Ky. – Sophomore Chloe Ruble and freshman Lauren Paige Slatton both tied for 20th in UAB's opening tournament of the year at the Velvet Classic hosted by Murray State at the Country Club of Paducah.
Ruble carded a one-over 73 in the final round which moved her up 12 spots on the final day for her top 20 finish. Ruble shot 76-80-73 = 229 (+13).
Freshman Lauren Paige Slatton was also impressive in her first career collegiate tournament. Slatton shot 75-75-79 = 229 (+13) to tie Ruble for the team lead.
Freshman Annika Gomeyac was UAB's third finisher at +32, which tied her for 67th overall, while fellow freshman Gabby Hultstrand finished in a tie for 79th at +38. Senior Grace Sinclair rounded out UAB's lineup in a tie for 81st at +42.
Troy won the overall team title, while Pennie Osterberg of UNC Asheville, Elin Tynan of Murray State, Sloane Biddle of Belmont, and Constanza Quiroga of Troy splitting the individual title with scores of +5.
The Blazers return to action on Sept. 22-23 with the Johnie Imes Invitational at the Old Hawthorne Country Club in Columbia, Mo.
