AUGUSTA, Ga. – UAB punter Oliver Straw has been named to Ray's 8 for Week 6 as announced by the Augusta Sports Council and the Ray Guy Award committee on Monday.
This is the second straight week Straw has made the list.
Straw had three punts on Saturday that averaged 47 yards per punt, with all three punts landing inside the 20. Two of the three punts went more than 50 yards and had a long of 56 yards in Saturday's loss at Memphis. Straw had a punt land inside the 5-yard line in the game, but was negated by way of a running-into-the-kicker penalty.
For the season, Straw has 14 punts with an average just over 46 yards per punt. Eight of his 14 punts have gone at least 50 yards with seven landing inside the 20.
Straw and the Blazers return to action on Thursday night against East Carolina for Homecoming. Kickoff is set for 6:30 p.m. on ESPN.
