BIRMINGHAM – UAB women's basketball (10-18, 3-13 American) fell 86-57 to Temple (13-15, 7-9 American) on Saturday afternoon at Bartow Arena. Cali Smallwood and Journey Armstead led the Blazers with 13 points each.

The Owls were led by Kaylah Turner with 26 points while Saniyah Craig registered 16 points. Jaleesa Molina came away with 11 points.

Game Notes

Smallwood and Armstead both recorded 13 points to lead the Green and Gold while Armstead's 13 points matched her season best.
Off the bench, Ashlyn Howard registered a season-high six rebounds and matched her season-best eight points.
Mari Miller, who also came off the bench, tallied three rebounds for a season high.
Jordan Rosier saw her first start of the season and recorded seven points and matched her season-best three field goals.
Monae' Duffy led the Blazers with 14 rebounds and has recorded 10-plus rebounds 11 times this season.
UAB scored 26 points in the paint and 24 bench points.
Temple scored 29 points off turnovers compared to three for UAB.
The Blazers committed 21 turnovers to the Owls six.
UAB shot 37 percent overall, 22 percent from the three and 50 percent at the line.
Temple shot 42 percent from the field, 44 percent from the perimeter and 67 percent at the free throw line.

The Owls opened the game on a 9-0 run, fueled by three early three-pointers [9-0].
Rosier knocked down a perimeter shot to briefly slow the run [14-7].
Temple converted multiple UAB turnovers into transition points [22-7].
The Owls closed the quarter shooting 47 percent from the field and led by 13 after one [26-13].
Temple extended the lead with three consecutive threes [35-13].
Molly Moffitt converted a three-point play to provide a spark for UAB [35-16].
Temple carried a 26-point advantage into halftime after holding the Blazers to 20 percent shooting in the quarter [49-23].
The third quarter opened with a fast-break layup by Temple and a three to stretch the lead [54-23].
UAB generated second-chance looks but struggled from the perimeter [59-35].
The Owls maintained control and led by 30 heading into the fourth [66-36].
The Blazers showed fight, outscoring Temple in the final period (21-20).
Smallwood connected from deep to trim the deficit [68-39].
Temple answered with balanced scoring and paint production [81-52].
Riley Talbert scored from deep with 21 seconds remaining, but Temple closed out the game comfortably [86-57].
