UAB Escapes with a 9-8 Win Over Alabama A&M

BIRMINGHAM – UAB Baseball secured another come-from-behind win on Tuesday as the Blazers (13-8) walked off Alabama A&M (7-15) by a score of 9-8. UAB scored three runs in the bottom of the ninth for the Green and Gold's fourth true walk-off win of the season.
UAB got off to a quick start in Tuesday's contest with three runs in the bottom of the first. Three of the first four hitters reached base safely. Brady Waugh singled through the right side to score Kevin Hall Jr. Wesley Helms pushed across Alex Dupuy on a fielder's choice. Andrew Hunt scored on a wild pitch to cap off the 3-run inning.
AAMU immediately answered in the top of the second with two runs. A leadoff walk and a single put two on with no outs to begin the inning. After back-to-back 3-pitch strikeouts, Keilon Parnell tripled down the right field line to push across both runs to cut the UAB lead to 3-2.
The Bulldogs would take the lead in their half of the fourth inning as the first four hitters in the inning reached safely. Chris Walker singled home Keondre Fields and KJ Stanfield would later score on a Blazer error to give AAMU a 4-3 lead.
The Blazers would tie the game in the bottom of the fourth. Patrick McGlon would pick up his first Division I hit with one out in the inning. McGlon would later score on a fielder's choice to tie the game at four.
UAB would take the lead and add to it with a single tally in each of the next two innings. Patrick McGlon scored Andrew Hunt on a sac fly in the fifth and Landon Beaver doubled home Baylor Roberts to give UAB a 6-4 advantage through six.
Alabama A&M would tie the game at six in the top of the eighth inning. After a leadoff triple, Zamar Lewis would bring home Tarris Murray on a double to cut the Blazer lead to one. Later, Lewis would score on another UAB error to tie the game.
The Bulldogs would take the lead in the top of the ninth inning after back-to-back singles and a catcher's interference would load the bases with one out. Tarris Murray singled home Wilmer Cuevas and Miles Jackson to put AAMU up two as the game went to the bottom of the ninth.
UAB would draw three walks in the inning, including one with the bases loaded, which cut the Bulldog lead to 8-7. Kevin Hall Jr. stepped in and reached on a fielder's choice to tie the game and Austin Pierzynski scampered home after the throw to first trickled away and the Blazers took home another comeback victory, 9-8.

- UAB improves to 21-3 all-time against Alabama A&M.
- The Blazers advanced to 10-0 when scoring first and 9-2 when scoring in the first inning.
- The Green and Gold's 11-4 start at home is tied for the best 15-game home start under Casey Dunn.
- Kevin Hall Jr. led the team with his second 3-hit game of the season. The three hits collected ties Hall's career-best.
- Austin Pierzynski recorded his fourth multi-hit game of 2026 with two hits on Tuesday.
- Andrew Hunt put together his ninth career game of two runs scored.
UAB begins American Conference play on Friday night as the Blazers travel to East Carolina for a 3-game series with the Pirates. All three games will be televised on ESPN+.
