Chance Westry and Daniel Rivera Lead Blazers Past ECU

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The UAB Men's Basketball team (20-11, 11-7 American) won at home for the second time in conference play against East Carolina (11-20, 6-12 American) 90-83 on Sunday afternoon to conclude the regular season. Chance Westry had 22 points with 11 assists for his second straight double-double. Daniel Rivera also added 22 points which is a season high in points.
UAB has locked in the four seed and will play the winner of (5) Charlotte vs. (8) Memphis / (9) Tulane on Friday at 12:00 in Legacy Arena.

2026-27 Men's Basketball Season Tickets
In January 2026, UAB Athletics made men's basketball season tickets available leading into the Bartow Arena renovations. The pricing and allocation details are included here along with a timeline of important dates to know prior to the 2026-27 basketball season. Fans will select their specific ticket locations during the UAB Basketball priority seating and parking selection process which begins in July of 2026 following a June 30, 2026, basketball priority seat deadline.

Game Notes
- With the win, head coach Andy Kennedy has now accomplished six straight 20+ win seasons at UAB. Kennedy accomplished this with three seasons in the American and three in Conference USA only two teams in the American Conference have accomplished more than six 20+ wins (Memphis and Houston both had eight.
- Six straight 20+ wins seasons is the most consecutive in UAB history. Mike Anderson and Gene Bartow both achieved four consecutive seasons. Kennedy has the second most 20+ win seasons behind Gene Bartow who had 11.
- Chance Westry scored his 500th career point today.
- Meyer scored his most points in a game since Feb. 8 at Rice (18).
- UAB scored just six second chance points which is the second least all season (two at Tulane).
- Daniel Rivera scored his most points in a single game while at UAB with 21.
- Chance Westry had his second straight double-double with 22 points and 11 assists. This was his 3rd career double-double.
- Chance Westry has had 4+ assists in 11 consecutive games and 10+ assists in back-to-back games.
- UAB shot 55% from the field (35-for-64), 33% from three (4-for-12), and 72% from the free-throw line (16-for-22).
- Daniel Rivera scored the first points of the game giving the Blazers an early lead [2-0].
- The Blazers started off quickly with two transition buckets from Jacob Myer and Dayjaun Anderson [10-8]. They had 34 fast break points in the game.
- ECU grabbed a quick four offensive rebounds in the first eight minutes of play. The 4th one was grabbed by Reid Cason when he put it back up and got fouled [17-22].
- Chance Westry assisted Daniel Rivera to get the Blazers within one [23-24], 9:07 remaining in the first half.
- Meyers with a huge three to tie the game [26-26].
- Rivera took the lead with a transition slam dunk; Blazers up by two [28-26] with 7:52 left in the first half.
- Jordan Riley with the and-one bucket to shorten the Blazers lead to two points [32-30].
- Pirates went on a four-point run [37-42] with 57 seconds left in the first half.
- Westry scored a layup to close the first half, UAB down at halftime [41-44].
- Coming out of halftime, Westry gets a and-one to tie the game at 44.
- Anderson with the steal giving him an opportunity for the fast break layup.
- Reid slammed one home to give ECU a seven-point lead, which was the largest lead by either team so far [48-55], 16:00 remaining in the second half.
- ECU's Demitri Gardner hit a three, and Giovanni Emejuru with a dunk to give the Pirates a 10-point lead, the largest lead of the game [50-60].
- UAB went on a 9-0 run to close the 10-point gap with a dunk from senior Lindsay-Martin that forced ECU into a timeout [59-60].
- Lindsay- Martin got fouled and made both free throws to cut the Pirates' lead to one [76-77].
- Lindsay-Martin had a monster put-back dunk to give the Green and Gold the lead [78-77] with 3:26 to play.
- Defensive rebound from Rivera and bucket by Westry extends UAB lead [80-77].
- Meyer with another huge three, Blazers up by five with 1:25 remaining [83-78].
- In the last six minutes, UAB outscored ECU 18-3 to seal the final home win of the season.
- Final score: UAB 90, East Carolina 83
- Birmingham will host the conference tournament next weekend, starting on Tuesday, March 10. UAB will get a double bye and will not play until Friday, March 13. Tipoff against either Tulane, Memphis, or Charlotte will be at 12:00 p.m. CT. inside Legacy Arena.
