Volleyball Earns AVCA Academic Team Award

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - UAB Volleyball was honored by the American Volleyball Coaches Association, earning the 2026 AVCA Academic Team Award.
The Blazers join 1,431 other collegiate and high school volleyball programs across the country as recipients of the honor. UAB Volleyball, along with the other honorees, maintains a year-long grade-point average above 3.3 on a 4.0 scale (or a 4.1 on a 5.0 scale).
UAB was one of 231 NCAA DI Women's programs to earn the award.
Betsy Freeburg's Blazers open the 2026 season on August 28 against Valparaiso in Chattanooga, Tenn. The Blazers will make their home debut in the newly renovated Bartow Arena at 1 p.m. on October 4 vs Tulsa.
