BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The UAB men's soccer team scored with 44 seconds remaining to earn a thrilling 3-2 victory over South Florida (1-5, 0-1 American) on Friday night at PNC Field, extending its winning streak to three matches.

The Blazers (3-1-1, 1-0-0 American) appeared to have the match in hand after goals from Lucas Rizzo and Lucas Nordin gave UAB a 2-0 lead early in the second half. Rizzo opened the scoring in the 48th minute, converting a penalty kick, before Nordin doubled the advantage in the 60th minute off assists from Gael Zackrisson and Carson Brice. Zackrisson played a beautiful ball into Nordin's feet that helped him get a shot on goal.

South Florida battled back late, scoring twice in the final eight minutes to level the match at 2-2. Tyler Richardson scored in the 83rd minute before converting a penalty kick in the 89th minute to bring the Bulls even.

Just 26 seconds later, Tony Kim delivered the game-winning goal. Kim found the back of the net in the 89th minute off assists from Noah Wanzer and Zackrisson, securing UAB's third consecutive victory. The goal was Kim's fourth of the season and his third game-winning goal of the year. With three game-winning goals this season, Kim is tied for first nationally in that category.

UAB goalkeeper Ethan Schulz made two saves in the victory, while the Blazers finished the night with nine shots and five shots on target.

Game Notes

The three-game winning streak is UAB's first since 2018.
Friday's victory also marked just the second time UAB has defeated South Florida, with the Blazers earning their first win over the Bulls since 2004.
