BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The UAB men's soccer team fell 3-2 to Gardner-Webb on Wednesday night at PNC Field.

Gardner-Webb opened the scoring in the 11th minute when Blanchar Mulamba found the back of the net off an assist from Nicolas Triguero to give the Runnin' Bulldogs an early 1-0 lead.

The Blazers responded in the 27th minute when Sam Roberson scored his second goal of the season, with Alan Melendez providing the assist to level the match at 1-1. UAB carried the momentum into halftime with the score tied.

Gardner-Webb regained the lead in the 65th minute when Henry Kang scored off an assist from Leonardo Cristescu. The Blazers answered quickly, with Tony Kim finding the back of the net just over two minutes later. Kim's sixth goal of the season came off an assist from Ole Jessen, tying the match at 2-2.

Just over a minute later, Gardner-Webb regained the advantage for good when Nicolas Triguero scored in the 69th minute off an assist from Noah Simon. UAB continued to pressure in the final 20 minutes, but the Blazers were unable to find the equalizer.

UAB finished the night with 13 shots, including four on target, while Gardner-Webb recorded 12 shots with eight on goal. Ethan Schulz made five saves for the Blazers, while Tony Kim led UAB with four shots and two shots on target. Ole Jessen added three shots.

The loss moves UAB to 4-3-1 on the season. Gardner-Webb improves to 2-3-1.
