BIRMINGHAM – The UAB volleyball team continues American Conference play Wednesday night as the Blazers travel to Memphis, Tenn., to face Memphis at 6:30 p.m. inside Elma Roane Fieldhouse.
UAB enters the matchup with a 6-8 overall record and an 0-2 mark in American play. Memphis enters Wednesday at 5-8 overall and 0-2 in conference action.

REESE CLOSING IN ON 1,000
Senior outside hitter Mia Reese enters Wednesday's matchup just eight kills shy of reaching 1,000 for her UAB career. Reese has recorded 156 kills this season, averaging 3.00 kills per set, and posted a career-high 25 kills in the season opener against Valparaiso.
Reese led the Blazers offensively during the opening weekend of American Conference play, recording 11 kills while hitting .267 against Temple before adding 15 kills and 12 digs at Rice. She has totaled 26 kills while hitting .231 through UAB's first two conference matches.
ALL-AROUND IMPACT FROM McCOLLUM
Rachel McCollum continues to provide an all-around presence for the Blazers in her first season in Birmingham. The redshirt senior recorded a triple-double in her UAB debut against Valparaiso and surpassed 1,000 career assists earlier this season against Rider.
McCollum nearly added another triple-double Sunday at Rice, finishing with 29 assists, 14 digs and nine kills as UAB rallied from a 2-0 deficit before falling in five sets.
SERIES HISTORY
Wednesday marks the 63rd all-time meeting between UAB and Memphis. The Tigers hold a 37-25 advantage in the series, while UAB is 10-16 all-time in matches played at Memphis. The Blazers have won each of the last three meetings between the programs.
UAB earned a 3-1 road victory on Oct. 29, 2025, before sweeping Memphis in Birmingham on Nov. 5. The current three-match winning streak is UAB's longest against Memphis since winning four straight from 2010-12.
SCOUTING THE TIGERS
Memphis enters Wednesday's match at 5-8 overall and 0-2 in American Conference play after dropping its first two league matches against Wichita State and Tulsa. The Tigers are averaging 12.73 kills, 13.92 digs and 1.80 blocks per set while hitting .207 as a team.
Caitlyn Little leads the Memphis attack with 200 kills and averages 4.08 kills per set while hitting .251. Little has recorded four 20-kill performances this season. Amanda Hardt has added 108 kills and averages 3.09 kills per set.
Setter Sydney Marshall directs the Tigers' offense with 445 assists and averages 9.08 assists per set, while Arianna Mongare has contributed 76 kills with a .239 hitting percentage.
