Men's Basketball Defeats Jackson State 88-68

P.J. Arnold led four UAB players in double figures with 25 points as the Blazers (6-6) defeated Jackson State (1-10) 88-68 Saturday night in men's basketball action at Bartow Arena.
Arnold scored 21 of his points in the first half as UAB steadily built its lead, eventually leading by 18 points (46-28) with 1:18 remaining in the period. Forward Myron Ransom also had a strong first half, scoring 10 of his 15 points in the opening period.
UAB led 46-32 at halftime.
Forward Eric Batchelor took over in the second half, scoring 15 of his 19 points after intermission. UAB continued to build its lead, eventually holding a 23-point lead at 88-65 with four seconds remaining in the game.
The fourth Blazer in double figures was freshman forward Jeffery Collins, who scored a career high 14 points.
Guard Raymond Appleberry led four Jackson State players in double figures with 18 points, followed by center Kelly Ross with 14, and Tim Henderson and Eric Large with 10 points apiece. Appleberry had a game-high nine rebounds.
