Elizabeth Ambrus Wins Conference Title In 10,000 Meters

EL PASO, Texas --- UAB's Elizabeth Ambrus won the 10,000 meters in the first day of competition at the 2006 Conference USA Outdoor Track and Field Championship. Ambrus took the title after running a time of 35:39.04, finishing ahead of Rice's Marissa Daniels.
Additionally, Jennifer Thompson placed fifth in the same event after posting a time of 39:11.44. The duo tallied 14 points for UAB, putting the Blazers second overall in the team standings, just three points behind Rice.
Katie Stepp was the final Blazer in the 10,000 meters, finishing 10th overall with a time of 40:55.18.
UAB's Erin Harris is in fourth after the first day of competition in the heptathlon with 2,969 points. Blazer Katryce Sykes is in seventh, while Tracy Rowan is 10th and Mary Kim Webb stands in 11th. Houston's Rachel Easley is currently first, accumulating 3,392 points.
