Blazers Earn Seven Top Ten Finishes At Auburn Invitational

AUBURN, Ala. - The UAB women's track and field team took home seven top ten finishes from the Auburn Invitational on Saturday, highlighted by the 4x400 relay team that set a new season-best time of 3:42.83 to take second place in that event.
The 4x400 relay team consisted of junior Stacey Adewakun, junior Genoah Collins, sophomore Alina Varpiotaite and junior Tara Colvin.
The Blazers continued to have success in the relay events, placing third in the 4x100 with a time of 46.43. The relay squad was made up of freshman Katrina Harrell, Adewakun, senior Stephanie McCauley and Colvin.
In addition to being a member of the 4x400 relay team, Varpiotaite was also UAB's top runner in the 800 meters, placing third with a personal-best time of 2:09.99. Collins took sixth in that event, finishing in 2:16.74.
In the 1500-meter run, freshman Kendel Hood ran a season-best time of 4:43.43 to finish seventh.
UAB continued to shine in the field events, earning three top ten finishes, including senior Erin Harris with two. Harris took fifth in the long jump at 5.87 meters and sixth in the triple jump with a mark of 12.16 meters. Senior Deborah Hawkins jumped 12.07 meters in the triple jump to take seventh place.
