BIRMINGHAM, Ala. --- The UAB track and field team will prepare for its upcoming indoor season by traveling to Middle Tennessee's Christmas Invitational Saturday in Murfreesboro, Tenn.
"We plan on brining a small group of athletes to Middle Tennessee," UAB interim head coach Kurt Thomas said. "It's always good to let some of the girls compete in the fall. They all have been training so hard, so letting them see where they are at in their training motivates them and helps us see what things we need to work on."
The Blazers will face competition from Georgia Tech, Milligan College, Tennessee State, Western Kentucky and host Middle Tennessee at the meet.
UAB will compete in the long jump, high jump, 400-meter, 55-meter hurdles, 55-meter dash, 800-meter, 200-meter and mile relay events. The long jump is scheduled for an 11:30 a.m. CT start at the Murphy Center.
Live results from Saturday's events will be available at www.ptgrouponline.com.
"I'm really just looking forward to seeing some of these freshmen compete for the first time," Thomas said. "As a whole, I want to see great effort and execution of the good technique that they've learned in the fall, which will give us things to build on for the indoor season."
