South Bend, Ind. - The UAB track and field team concluded the two-day Meyo Invitational hosted by Notre Dame Saturday.
"I thought the girls came out and competed extremely hard today," UAB interim head coach Kurt Thomas said. "The freshmen stepped up and ran very well, along with the distance girls. Lauren [Fayen] and Bianca [Le'Blanc] also had a great day in the 800m."
Junior Nora Mehl leaped 1.75m (5-08.75) in the high jump, earning her a fourth-place finish.
"Nora [Mehl] had a great day and just missed the NCAA provisional qualifying mark," Thomas said. "I am confident she will qualify the next time she competes."
Junior Samantha Hamilton leaped to a season-best jump of 11.96m (39-03.00) in the triple jump to take an 11th-place finish. Hamilton also posted an eighth-place finish in the 60m hurdle finals with a time of 8.59.
Freshman Angel Watson ran to a personal-record time of 24.81 in the 200m, placing 12th.
In the 800m, sophomores Lauren Fayen and Lucy Taylor, and junior Bianca Le'Blanc, clocked personal-record times.
Sophomores Kristina Vaughn and Clara Cid recorded personal-record times in the 3,000m.
In the mile run, senior Kendel Hood posted an indoor personal-record time of 5:01.98, while sophomore Colleen Standridge also recorded an indoor personal-record time of 5:12.33.
In the 400m finals, freshmen Lytrice Thomas, Karina Expose and Rachel Harley, clocked personal-record times.
"The team competed very well overall," Thomas said. "We had a good weekend, but we still have work to do in order to be ready for the conference meet."
