BIRMINGHAM, Ala. --- Kyana White, a sprinter and 400-meter specialist from Campbell High School in Smyrna, Ga., has signed to attend UAB, interim head track & field coach Kurt Thomas announced Thursday.
"Kyana is a great sign for us," Thomas said. "She is an outstanding student and we feel a diamond in the rough. She comes from a great family, is a highly-motivated runner and a great addition to our sprint group."
The Georgia native was a member of the 2010 state champion 1,600-meter relay squad at Campbell, and was named Atlanta Track Club's 2010 Woman of the Year as a part of the 1,600-meter relay team.
White is a three-time regional champion, capturing the 1,600-meter relay title in both 2009 and 2010 and the 400-meter relay title in 2010. She is a three-time All-Cobb County selection and claimed the 2010 county title in the 200-meter dash.
"Kyana has some untapped potential and with her drive and the way she progressed as a senior, she will get here and be a big part of our team," Thomas said. "I am very happy to bring her into the Blazer family."
