UAB Set To Compete In Four Meets This Weekend

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. –The UAB track and field team will split up this weekend and compete in four different competitions that begin Friday morning and conclude Saturday evening.
Distance runners Clara Cid, Sarah Hudak and Kristina Vaughn will race at one of the largest and most competitive meets in the nation at Stanford in Palo Alto, Calif. Vaughn will compete in the 3,000-meter steeplechase on Friday at 10 a.m. PT, while Cid and Hudak will race in the 5,000 meters at 10:30 a.m. PT and 7 p.m. PT, respectively, at Cobb Track.

Pole Vaulter Toni Hawkins will compete at the Tennessee Invite in Knoxville, Tenn., while teammates Kara Woods, Kyana White and Shelby Barker are headed to the Auburn Invitational in Auburn, Ala. White will compete Saturday in the 400 meters, Woods will run in the 800 meters and Barker will jump in the high and triple jumps.
The rest of the team will compete in the Florida Relays in Gainesville, Fla. at the James G. Pressly Stadium. Action begins Friday at 12 p.m. ET with the men’s hammer throw and will continue throughout the day with the last event scheduled for 9:30 p.m.
Saturday’s collegiate events start at 11 a.m. ET with the men’s discus.
The Blazers will compete in the 100 meters, 100-meter hurdles, 400-meter hurdles, 800 meters, 1,500 meters and 5,000 meters, along with the 400-meter, 4x200, 4x800 and 4x400-meter relays.
