The UAB junior finished first in the 200-meter dash portion of the heptathlon with a time of 24.93 and third in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 14.21. She was fifth in the shot put at 10.82 meters (35-08.75) and eighth in the high jump at 1.58 meters (5-02.25).
Three events remain Saturday to decide the heptathlon champion -- the long jump, the javelin and the 800 meters.
Cid ran the 10,000 meters in a time of 36:30.24 to finish in sixth place and earn three points for UAB in the team competition.
The senior was one of two Blazers competing in the event, joining senior Shannon Simpson, who finished 15th with a time of 41:57.40. Rice's Becky Wade won the 10,000 meters in 34:54.57.
