Johns Named To Capital One Academic All-District Team

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ----- UAB distance runner Rhiannon Johns has been named to the 2013 Capital One Academic All-District Women's Track/Cross Country Team, selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
The team recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom.
Johns, a graduate student from Sault Ste. Marie, Canada, earned the all-district honor for the fourth time. Johns earned a 4.0 grade point average in mathematics before receiving her undergraduate degree in May, 2012. Now working on her Masters in math, Johns has a 3.75 GPA in postgraduate studies.
Last Thursday, she qualified for next week's NCAA Championships at Eugene, Ore. In the 10,000-meter run. She earned All-America recognition in 2011 with her NCAA finish in the 5,000.
Earlier this week, Johns was named to Canada's 2013 World University Games team.
