Track & Field Schedule Set for 2016-17

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The UAB women’s track & field team has announced its schedule for the 2016-17 season. The Blazers will host two invitationals and the Conference USA Indoor Track & Field Championships at the Birmingham Crossplex.
UAB is lead by Kurt Thomas who enters his eighth season in charge of the Blazers program. He led the Green & Gold to the Birmingham-Southern Icebreaker last Friday for the first meet of the year where the Blazers had six top-five performers. UAB hosts two events at the Crossplex on January 13 and 14, the UAB Blazer Invite and then the UAB Vulcan Invite the next day.
UAB heads on the road for two meets as it heads to the Vanderbilt Invitational January 20-21 and then the Notre Dame Meyo Invite February 3-4.
The Blazers close out the indoor season with three straight meetings at the Birmingham Crossplex. The first is February 5, hosted by South Alabama with the Samford Invite occurring on February 10. UAB then hosts the C-USA Indoor Championships February 18-19. The indoor season wraps up with the NCAA Indoor Championships hosted by Texas A&M.
The outdoor season begins a month later at the South Alabama Invite on March 17-18. The next weekend they stay in Birmingham and compete in the Samford Invitational/
The Blazers will spend two weeks with splits crews at different events. The first is March 30-31 when they head to the Florida Relays as well as the Stanford Invitational. The other such weekend is April 21-22 when UAB will participate in the Georgia Tech Invite and the Virginia Challenge.
UAB will also compete in the Auburn Invite (April 7-8), South Alabama Invite (April 14-15), and Southern Miss Invite (April 28-29) before the C-USA Outdoor Championships hosted by UTEP May 11-14.
The outdoor season comes to a close with NCAA meets. The NCAA East Preliminaries are hosted by Kentucky May 25-27 and followed by the NCAA Outdoor Championships hosted by Oregon June 7-10.
