NORFOLK, Va. – The UAB men's soccer team fell 3-2 to Old Dominion Saturday night at the ODU Soccer Complex. The Blazers fall to 2-3-2 and remain winless in Conference USA action while the Monarchs improve to 5-1-2 and 2-0-0 in league play.
Old Dominion netted the game winner at the 16 minute after Max Wilschrey scored his first career goal on an assist from Brandon Perdue to take a 1-0 lead.
Two minutes later Perdue was on the receiving end of an assist from Fox Slotemaker netting a shot to put the game at 2-0.
Rami Dajani cut the Old Dominion lead to one in the 58th minute on an assist from Tarnue Tyler to make the score 2-1. For Dajani it was the 15th goal of his career and he needs six more to crack into the top-10 career goals scored in program history.
It would not take long for Old Dominion to respond as it regained its two score lead in the 63rd minute when CJ Taylor netted his first career goal on the assist from Tyler Edwards to put the game at 3-1.
UAB added some drama in the 85th minute when Massimo Ferrin netted a long ball from deep outside the box giving him his team best third goal of the season and cutting the lead to 3-2 with five minutes to play.
Old Dominion out shout UAB 11 to eight and also won the save battle four to two.
All three of the Blazers' goals scored in C-USA play this season have come in the second half. Ferrin, Dajani and Trey Nelson have provided those offensive sparks.
UAB takes a week off before returning home to continue league play when it hosts Charlotte on Sept. 30 at BBVA Compass Field. Kick between the Blazers and Miners is slated for 7 p.m.
