Blazers Tangle with Louisiana Tech in Saturday Matinee

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The UAB men's basketball team puts its three-game winning streak on the line Saturday at 4 p.m. when the Blazers host Louisiana Tech on Stadium.
UAB (12-5, 3-1) has won six of its last seven games after turning in an 86-75 victory over Southern Miss on Thursday. Sophomore Nate Darling hit six 3-pointers and tied a career-high with 20 points to lead a quartet of Blazers in double figures. The Halifax, Nova Scotia, native is third on the team with 10.6 points per game and stands second on the squad with a .377 three-point field goal percentage.
Chris Cokley produced another strong outing with 18 points, eight rebounds, two assists and two steals and is averaging 20.0 points and 9.0 rebounds per game over his last three contests. The Savannah, Ga., native currently leads UAB and ranks sixth in Conference USA with 17.4 points per game while topping the league with 9.3 rebounds per game. Cokley is also 37th in the NCAA with a .597 field goal percentage and is making 67.6 percent of his shots during the Blazers' three-game winning streak.
Zack Bryant tied a career-high with 19 points Thursday against Southern Miss and ranks second on the team with 14.0 points per game to go along with a team-best .404 three-point percentage. Senior William Lee added 16 points, seven rebounds and two blocks and enters play on Saturday needing just nine more rejections to become the school's all-time leader.
Louisiana Tech (10-8, 1-4) has lost four of its last five games after falling 72-57 Thursday at Middle Tennessee. The Bulldogs, however, will be playing their fourth Conference USA road game of the season against competition that features a combined 14-2 record in league play.
Sophomore guard DaQuan Bracey serves as the offensive catalyst for Louisiana Tech with 15.3 points per game and a team-best 83 assists. Senior guard Jacobi Boykins stands second on the team with 14.7 points per game and has made a team-high 52 three-pointers.
UAB and Louisiana Tech will meet on the hardwood for the 12th time in school history when the two teams battle on Saturday. The Blazers own a 7-4 lead in the all-time series that dates back to the 1988-89 season. In the most recent meeting, Louisiana Tech eliminated the Blazers from the 2017 Conference USA Tournament with a 69-57 victory in the quarterfinals. UAB, however, turned in a 79-70 win last season at Bartow Arena and has won six of the seven all-time meetings in Birmingham.
All single game tickets are currently on sale and can be purchased online or by calling the UAB Ticket Office at 205-975-8221. Lower level tickets can be purchased for $20 and upper level seating is on sale for $15. Special group pricing is also available for groups of 20 or more, and the Pick-Six mini plan is a flexible option that allows fans to purchase any six of the seven remaining home games for $60.
