UAB Looks for 11 Straight at Home on Saturday Versus UTSA

BIRMINGHAM – Looking to extend the nation's fourth-longest home winning streak, the UAB football team hosts UTSA on Saturday night at Legion Field. Kickoff on beIN Sports is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
The Blazers are on a defensive tear and have only allowed 35 total points in five Conference USA games. UAB is tied with Oklahoma State for the most sacks in the nation at 31 and needs only four more for the school record.
UAB has not allowed a point in six-straight quarters and has held its opponents scoreless in 16 of 20 quarters overall in C-USA play.

STORYLINES:
- UAB is coming off a 19-0 blanking of UTEP and is the only team in the country to register multiple shutouts this season. The Blazers now have three shutouts this year, a new Conference USA record.
- The Blazers added four sacks to their season total against UTEP and now have 31. They are tied for the nation's lead in total sacks and sacks per game (3.88).
- Along with leading the country in sacks, UAB is second nationally in third down defense (.235), third in scoring defense (13.3), fifth in passing yards allowed (155.8), fifth in fourth down defense (.182), fifth in total defense (277.9) and eighth in tackles for loss per game (8.1).
- Sophomore running back Spencer Brown is ranked sixth nationally with 11 rushing touchdowns. Brown has scored at least one touchdown in six-straight games, while three of those games have been multi-touchdown performances.
- Brown has 691 yards to go along with his 11 touchdowns and in 21 career games he has amassed 2,020 rushing yards and 21 touchdowns. Last week at UTEP he moved into sixth place on UAB's career rushing list.
- Brown is also coming off back-to-back 100-yard rushing performances and has four overall this year and 10 in his career, which is tied for the third most in program history.
- The Blazers are leading Conference USA in rushing and rank 16th nationally overall at 233.0 yards per game. Along with Brown, UAB's top five rushers all have at least 170 rushing yards. UAB is also leading the league in rushing touchdowns with 23 and has scored multiple rushing touchdowns every game this season. The Blazers aim to surpass 27 rushing touchdowns for the new school record.
- UAB is 11-2 in Conference USA since the start of 2017, the most C-USA wins of any team in the league. Since making their return to the playing field, UAB is 15-6 overall. The 15 combined wins are the most in a two-year span in school history as Division I members.
- This will be the third all-time meeting between UAB and UTSA and the first-ever game in Birmingham. UTSA is coming off a bye week and is 3-2 in its last five games after opening the season with losses to Arizona State, Baylor and Kansas State.
- The Roadrunners have 66 underclassmen on their roster, with 38 freshmen and 28 sophomores, making up 60 percent of the team. UTSA is one of three teams in the country who is still perfect in the red zone (17-of-17).
