BIRMINGHAM - Winners of three in a row, the UAB men's basketball team travels to Memphis for a Saturday afternoon tilt with the Tigers at FedEx Forum. Tip is set for 12 p.m. CST on ESPN3.
The Blazers (6-2) and the Tigers (4-4) are meeting for the 49th time in program history and UAB won the last year's non-conference contest 71-56 at Bartow Arena.
UAB is coming off a 73-67 victory over North Alabama in which Lewis Sullivan recorded his second-career double-double with 16 points and 11 rebounds. The senior is making the most of his final year in the Green and Gold as he is second on the team in scoring at 10.1 ppg and leads the team on the glass at 6.4 rpg.
Fellow senior Jalen Perry led four Blazers in double-figure scoring against the Lions with 17 points, while Sullivan (16), Tyreek Scott-Grayson (13) and Will Butler (11) also contributed in the scoring column.
The Blazers look to continue dominating on the glass as they enter the contest leading Conference USA and ranking top 30 nationally in rebounding margin (7.8). UAB is averaging 13.7 offensive rebounds per game and had 14 last time out against North Alabama.
Memphis most recently notched an 88-80 victory against South Dakota State which was the first of seven straight home games for the Tigers. Memphis is yet to win consecutive games this season, while two of their four losses have come to ranked teams (#22 LSU, #20 Texas Tech).
Freshman guard and Memphis native Tyler Harris is the team's leading scorer at 15.3 points per game, followed by senior guard Jeremiah Martin at 14.1 ppg.
Following Memphis, UAB has a week to prepare for Auburn as the two teams square off on December 15 at Legacy Arena. That game marks the first of six-straight for the Blazers in Birmingham.
