Blazers Open Road Trip Thursday at Louisiana Tech

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The UAB men's basketball team opens a three-game road trip Thursday at 8 p.m. when the Blazers travel to Ruston, La., to face Louisiana Tech from the Thomas Assembly Center.
The game will be broadcast live on CBS Sports Network with Chris Hassel and Michael O'Donnell on the call.
UAB (16-10, 7-6) improved to 12-3 at home on Saturday with a 61-56 victory over Rice at Bartow Arena. Senior Chris Cokley scored 15 points and grabbed 10 rebounds en route to his 12th double-double of the season. The Savannah, Ga., leads the Blazers with 18.1 points and 9.3 rebounds per game and ranks first in Conference USA and 18th in the NCAA in double-doubles.
Freshman Zack Bryant is second on the team with 12.8 points per game and is only 18 points shy of setting a single-season school record for points by a freshman. Senior William Lee adds 9.7 points, 6.4 rebounds and 2.2 blocked shots per game. Lee is second in Conference USA and 30th in the NCAA in blocks and needs 16 more rejections for 300 in his career.
Louisiana Tech (15-11, 6-7) has lost two of its last three games after falling 82-69 at home to Old Dominion on Saturday. The Bulldogs currently sit in eighth place in the Conference USA standings.
Senior guard Jacobi Boykins paces the Louisiana Tech offense with 14.6 points per game and a team-high 77 three-pointers made. Sophomore guard Daquan Bracey ranks second on the team with 14.3 points per game to go along with a team-high 88 assists.
UAB and Louisiana Tech will meet on the hardwood for the 13th time in school history when the two teams battle on Thursday. The Blazers own an 8-4 lead in the all-time series that dates back to the 1988-89 season. In the most recent match-up, UAB defeated Louisiana Tech 74-62 earlier this season (Jan. 13) behind 24 points and seven rebounds from Cokley to help the Blazers capture their fourth win in the last six games against the Bulldogs.
