BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Coming off its biggest win in program history, the UAB beach volleyball returns to action this Friday and Saturday, March 30-31 at the LSU Beach Invitational.
The Blazers (6-5, 1-2 CCSA) will look for back-to-back wins over top 10 nationally ranked teams when they open the tournament against No. 10 LSU at noon on Friday. The last time UAB took the court resulted in a 3-2 victory over No. 8 South Carolina which marked the Blazers' first-ever win over a nationally ranked opponent.
The win also gave UAB its first regular season CCSA victory, and the Blazers have an opportunity to make that two wins in a row over a conference opponent whom ranked top 10 nationally.
Following LSU, UAB plays Jacksonville State at 3 p.m. on Friday, and returns to the court on Saturday to play Texas A&M Kingsville at 11 a.m. and Texas A&M Corpus Christi at 2 p.m. UAB will be playing both of those opponents for the first time in school history.
The Blazers are currently receiving votes in the AVCA Top 20 national poll and are the third ranked outside of the top 20.
Following this weekend's tournament, the Blazers travel to Florida State which will essentially serve as a preview of the CCSA Tournement as UAB will play conference opponents No. 7 Florida State, No. 9 Georiga State, No. 18 Florida Atlantic and future CCSA foe TCU.
