BIRMINGHAM- Fresh off a victory against South Carolina, the UAB men's soccer team gears up for a Wednesday night matchup against Appalachian State in Boone, N.C.
UAB (2-8-1) looks to win consecutive games for the first time this season in its third all-time meeting with the Mountaineers. The Blazers have not lost to the Mountaineers in the two previous meetings, including a 1-0 victory last season in Birmingham.
The Green and Gold collected its first shut out of the season Saturday night against South Carolina and its first win over the Gamecocks since Oct. 11, 2014.
Appalachian State (8-2-1) searches for its third straight win after consecutive shutouts against Central Arkansas and Howard. The Mountaineers have not recorded a loss in the last five matches, their last loss came on Sept. 17 against Elon.
App State has seen 10 different Mountaineers score goals this season, including five players with two or more goals. The Mountaineers have also been strong on the defensive end, collecting six shutouts so far in 2019.
"App State is a team that has really found their form as of late," said head coach Jeff Kinney. "They are coached well and do not concede many goals. We are looking to build on our performance from this past Saturday and get our first road win of the year."
