BIRMINGHAM – UAB will host in-state rival North Alabama on Tuesday night. The Blazers (5-4) and Lions (5-5) tipoff at Bartow Arena at 7:00 p.m.
UAB AND NORTH ALABAMA
Tuesday is the second meeting between the two schools. The inaugural contest was Dec. 4, 2018 at Bartow arena, a 73-67 victory for the Blazers.
ABOUT NORTH ALABAMA
The Lions play in the Atlantic Sun Conference and are in their second season of Division I. UNA is led by Jamari Blackmon (14.6 ppg) and Christian Agnew (10.5 ppg). Emanuel Littles is the team's leading rebounder (7.9 rpg) but has missed the last three games.
North Alabama is 5-5 on the season and has faced a pair of common opponents in Louisiana Tech (L, 61-82) and Troy (L, 63-71). Additionally, the Lions play Alabama A&M on Dec. 20.
LAST TIME AGAINST NORTH ALABAMA
UAB never really pulled away from North Alabama on Dec. 4, 2018, but with the help of four players in double figures for the second-straight contest, the Blazers were able to fend off a pesky Lions team for a 73-67 victory in Bartow Arena.
Jalen Perry matched a career high with 17 points in the victory and hauled in six rebounds, while Lewis Sullivan notched his second career double-double with 16 points and a career-tying 11 boards. The duo of seniors went a combined 14-for-29 from the field.
North Alabama (2-7) was led by Kendarius Smith, who finished the game with 19 points, five rebounds and five assists. Kendall Stafford (18) and Jamari Blackmon (17) also scored in double figures for the Lions.
