Men’s Golf Readies for 40th Annual Schenkel Invitational

STATESBORO, Ga. – Looking to keep momentum going from last week's second place finish, the UAB men's golf team will participate in the Schenkel Invitational this weekend, March 15-17, at Forest Heights Country Club hosted by Georgia Southern University.
The Blazers have finished second in each of their first two spring tournaments of 2019 and have moved up to No. 67 in the latest golfstat.com rankings. Coming off the Palmetto Intercollegiate in which they beat No. 13 Clemson, the Blazers now have an overall record of 74-25-3.
William Walker III is the reigning Conference USA Golfer of the Week for his efforts in South Carolina in which he tied for second overall at the Palmetto. Walker III opened the tournament with a six-under 64, and finished the tournament at -4 overall and a season-low 206.
This is the 40th annual Schenkel Invitational and it is yet another loaded field this weekend. Along with the Blazers, Army, College of Charleston, East Tennessee State, Georgia Southern, Georgia State, Kentucky, Lipscomb, Maryland, Middle Tennessee, Minnesota, Mississippi State, Notre Dame and Virginia Tech will participate.
UAB will continue to stick with the same lineup which has provide the spring success. The five Blazers competing are Walker III, Murray Naysmith, John Hayden, Nick Robillard and John Snoddy. John Racciatti will compete as an individual.
