Women’s Golf Places 16th at UNF Collegiate

BIRMINGHAM - Playing in its second tournament of the spring season, the UAB women's golf team placed 16th at the UNF Collegiate in Jacksonville, hosted by the University of North Florida.
Senior Maria Donado highlighted UAB's efforts as she tied for 12th place overall. Donado opened the tournament with a two-under 70, and finished her rounds with consecutive 75s to for a final score of +4 (70-75-57 = 220).
Freshman Lexie Dawson was the Blazers second finisher tying for 49th, which was highlighted by a final round one-over. Dawson shot 13-over for the tournament (79-77-73).
Junior Tia Teiniketo was one shot behind Dawson and tied for 55th overall. He low round of even par came on the second 18 holes (76-72-82).
Rounding out UAB's efforts was junior Kenna Hughes who placed 79. UAB's fifth golfer Imy Huxley played the first 18 holes but then withdrew from the tournament.
Next up for the Blazers is the Bama Beach Bash in which UAB will host a tournament in Gulf Shores, Ala., March 22-24. Be sure to follow @UAB_WGOLF on Twitter and Instagram for updates.
