BIRMINGHAM – In its final tune up for the CCSA Tournament, the UAB beach volleyball team heads to Fort Worth, Texas, this Friday to play in a tournament hosted by TCU.
With inclement weather pending in the area, the two-day tournament was moved to just one and the Blazers will play three matches on Friday against No. 3 Florida State, No. 18 TCU and Texas A&M Corpus Christi.
The Blazers open the tournament with No. 3 FSU at 9 a.m. and look for a bit of revenge after almost knocking off the Seminoles earlier in the season. UAB then plays TCU for the first time this season at 1:30 a.m., and concludes action with TAMUCC at 3:45 p.m. UAB is 1-0 against TAMUCC this season.
At 13-12, UAB eyes a few team and individual records this weekend. With one more victory, the Blazers will establish a new school record for overall wins. Individually, UAB's top duo of Jaelyn Keene and Tressa Buckland tied the single season wins record of 17 last weekend and can break it with one victory this weekend. A win for Buckland would also make her the winningest player in program history.
Following the TCU tournament, UAB heads to Emerson, Ga., for the CCSA Tournament which has a new format this season after the addition of TCU and Southern Miss brought the league to 12 members.
