UAB Softball Heads to Western Kentucky for Three-Game Series

BIRMINGHAM – The UAB softball team is set to hit the road against WKU for a three-game series with the Hilltoppers March 20-21.
The Blazers play a double-header against WKU starting at 1 p.m. on Saturday before wrapping up the weekend at 1 p.m. on Sunday.
Despite both teams being C-USA members, this series will not count towards either team's conference records.
LAST TIME OUT
UAB (13-10) is coming off a 5-1 week, with its only loss to then 16-0 Southern Illinois on March 12.
The Blazers earned victories over Samford, Ball State, Southern Illinois and North Alabama. As a team, UAB batted .289, tallying 44 hits, 26 runs and 14 doubles.
SCOUTING REPORT
WKU (11-4) enters the series off a 2-1 weekend at the Louisville Tournament.
The Hilltoppers recorded two wins over Valpo and fell to Louisville, 3-0.
WKU currently leads C-USA in batting average (.329) and fielding percentage (96.8%).
The Hilltoppers have four players in the top-10 of the league in batting average: Kennedy Sullivan (.419), Paige Carter (.404), TJ Webster (.400) and Kendall Smith (.386).
PETREE IS DISHIN'
In the Green and Gold's last six games, Analyse Petree is batting a team-high .500, has tallied five RBIs, hit UAB's lone home run and slugging .939.
Petree also had eight hits and tallied four doubles, both team-highs.
On the season, she is batting .344 and tied with Olivia Valbak with 14 RBIs, the most on the team.
She ranks in the top-10 in the C-USA in hits (21), RBIs (14), doubles (6) and runs scored (15).
REACHING BASE
KK Crocker, who batted the second highest on the team (.462) in last week's six contests, has also reached base in each of the last 10 games.
Crocker has a UAB-high six game hitting streak and has been walked a team-high 11 times this season, the fifth-most in the conference.
IN THE CIRCLE
Amy Woodham is the reigning C-USA Pitcher of the Week.
Woodham (2-5) went 1-0 on last week, throwing 10.1 scoreless innings in three appearances, allowing just five hits and striking out nine batters.
She also tallied her first save of the season.
Jaycee Cook (3-1) and Parker Conrad (3-2) each also earned a victory in the circle.
As a unit, the pitchers struck out 48 batters compared to 21 from their opponents combined in last week's six matchups.

Attendance at the WKU Softball Complex remains closed as only player pass list guests will be allowed in.
