UAB finished the season at 6-6 overall and has officially accepted an invitation to play in the 2022 HomeTown Lenders Bahamas Bowl on Dec. 16 against Miami (OH).

McBride was unstoppable as he rushed for a school record 272 yards and a touchdown on 16 carries (17 YPC). In 11 games this season, he established a new school rushing record with 1,713 yards, which is currently the eighth most yards in Conference USA history for a single season.

UAB rushed for a season-high 406 yards as Jermaine Brown Jr. also had a monster day with 22 carries for 119 yards and two touchdowns. Brown Jr. finished the regular season with 832 rushing yards and six touchdowns.

Reynard Ellis was the star on defense as he tallied a career-high 18 tackles, 0.5 sacks, 1.5 TFL and a pass breakup. As a whole, UAB had three sacks, nine TFL and four PBU.

UAB's defense held Louisiana Tech to just three points after the Bulldogs took their first two possessions into the red zone, and Louisiana Tech led 3-0 after the first quarter.

The second quarter was dominated by the Blazers as UAB scored 17 unanswered points to gain a 17-3 lead. McBride had 10 carries for 182 yards at halftime, and the turning point of the game came on special teams as Charlie Goode blocked a punt which Luke Percer scooped up and took 14 yards into the end zone.

McBride's 19th rushing touchdown of the season came early in the third to give the Blazers a 24-6 lead, and that would grow to 37-20 entering the fourth as Brown Jr. added a 29-yard rushing score and Trea Shropshire a 74-yard touchdown reception.

The Blazers outgained the Bulldogs 497-467 and missed the single game rushing record by 14 yards after compiling 406 for the game.

The Blazers are now 49-26 since returning to action in 2017 and finished 34-13 in Conference USA during that span.
