"JELLY" WINS C-USA PLAYER OF THE WEEK...AGAIN
After breaking a UAB single-game scoring record with 42 points in the Blazers' 97-75 victory over Middle Tennessee on Saturday, Jordan "Jelly" Walker was named C-USA Player of the Week for the third time in the past four weeks. Walker's third honor this season makes him the first player in UAB history to earn C-USA Player of the Week honors three times in one season. The last time the Blazers had three or more Player of the Week honorees as a team was in 2014. The Port Washington, New York native's 42 points not only broke a UAB single-game scoring record, but they also tied for sixth-best in C-USA history in a single game. Walker also set a new career-high with 14 made field goals. He has scored 20+ points in seven straight games and is averaging 27.0 points per game during that run.
WHAT A RUN FOR JORDAN "JELLY" WALKER
After becoming the first UAB player in program history to earn Conference USA Player of the Week honors three times in one season on Monday, Jordan "Jelly" Walker continues his campaign for Conference USA Player of the Year. Walker has now scored 20 or more points in seven straight games, breaking a UAB single-game scoring record with 42 points in Saturday's win over Middle Tennessee. The Port Washington, New York native has been lights out from behind the 3-point line and at the free throw line since the turn of the new year, knocking down 42 3-pointers and going 33-of-36 from the free throw line since UAB's game against UTSA. So far, Walker is the only Conference USA player this season to earn Player of the Week honors three times. His career performance on Saturday also helped him garner national attention with ESPN college basketball analyst Jay Bilas naming Walker one of his two National Players of the Week.
