BIRMINGHAM – UAB Cross Country travels to Tuscaloosa, Alabama, competing in the Crimson Classic held by the University of Alabama. The Blazers will run in their first 6K of the season and their final race of the regular season.
"The Crimson Classic is a highly competitive meet this year and is a great opportunity to see how we will stack up against a lot of our regional competition." said head coach Travis Pope in his preview of the upcoming race.
The Blazers will race at 9:20 a.m. at the Harry Pritchett Running Course in Tuscaloosa. They are one of 26 teams competing, including the top-ranked USTFCCCA Southern Region Crimson Tide. UAB comes off a previous race where they placed 21st out of 41 teams in the Live in Lou race.
Kyra Hayes was the first Blazer to finish in the Louisville race, with two Blazers finishing in the top 100. As a squad, the Green and Gold finished top-25 in each race throughout the season.
"It is also our last chance to fine-tune some things before our conference championship. We have had some great workouts recently and been working on our starts, so we are excited to see how it all shakes out tomorrow," said Pope on the team's final race of the 2023 regular season.
