BIRMINGHAM – UAB men's basketball (4-2) picked up its fourth straight win on Saturday night at Bartow Arena, downing Furman, 92-86. Yaxel Lendeborg led the Blazers with 19 points, 10 rebounds and five blocks.

Saturday's contest got off to a very quick start. Javian Davis led the Blazers with 15 of his 17 points in the first half while Marcus Foster got the Paladins started with 14 first half points. Each team traded buckets in the early going.
With Furman leading 29-27, the Blazers were able to gain some separation on a 13-2 run to take a 40-31 lead. UAB stretched the advantage to as many as 11 points late in the first half. Daniel Ortiz scored 10 points over the last 10 minutes of the half to give the Blazers a spark. A Furman three at the buzzer put the score at 52-44 at the break.
Furman got off to a hot start in the second half, scoring the first six points of the period to shrink the UAB lead to just two. The contest remained close throughout the second half.
UAB led 79-77 with 4:47 remaining, but Javian Davis picked up his fifth foul and would be unavailable for the rest of the night. The Blazers took control late in the game with an 8-1 run that was sparked by Yaxel Lendeborg's steal and layup where he went coast-to-coast.
Tony Toney stepped up and hit a huge three with 3:10 left in the game to put UAB ahead 86-79 and Lendeborg scored again to give the Blazers a nine-point advantage.
