UAB Travels to Dallas Baptist for a Conference USA Series

BIRMINGHAM – The UAB Baseball (10-18, 3-6 C-USA) team will travel to Dallas, Texas to play the Dallas Baptist University Patriots (20-9, 6-3 C-USA) for a Conference USA three-game matchup starting Thursday, April 6. First pitch for games one and two are set for 6:30 P.M. with game three scheduled for 2 P.M. at Horner Ballpark.

The Blazers will enter DBU's home with momentum after a walk-off win over in-state foe Auburn by a score of 6-5 on Tuesday, April 4. The Patriots also defeated an in-state opponent, Sam Houston, on Tuesday by a score of 19-13. Looking at the two teams through conference standings, DBU sits above UAB in batting (DBU 4th, UAB 7th) and pitching (DBU 5th, UAB 7th), but the Blazers post the third highest fielding percentage in C-USA (.976).
UAB BLAZERS
Offensively for UAB, Logan Braunschweig enters his sixth game leading the team in batting average (.375). Tyler Waugh falls second with a .303 average and is hitting .425 over 10 games. Christian Hall sits closely behind Waugh batting .296 but is leading the team in hits (29) and RBIs (19) and is tied for most home runs (3) with Brayton Brown. Starting Rotation:
UAB will keep its weekend rotation – Brooks Walton, Blayze Berry and Carson Myers. Walton (2-3, 4.95 ERA) will make his seventh start of the season after he was handed the loss against Charlotte in game one of last weekend's series. Berry (2-2, 3.80 ERA) enters will step on the mound after throwing a complete nine innings during his last outing on Saturday, April 1. Myers (1-2, 3.06 ERA) took the loss in UAB and Charlotte's rubber match after he threw five and two-thirds of an inning to allow one run on two hits.
DBU PATRIOTS
DBU has collected a total of 227 runs so far this season including four starters collecting 24 runs each – Miguel Santos, Grants Jay, Ethan Mann and Luke Heefner. Santos leads the team in hits (39), doubles (10) and is tied for most RBIs (33) with Mann who posts the most home runs (9). The top three batting averages for DBU include Noah Boughton (.333), Alex Pendergast (.333) and Kodie Kolden (.327). Nine Patriots hold a .400 or better slugging percentage with Jay sitting at .701 and seven have a .400 or better on-base percentage.
Starting Rotation:
Taking the mound for game one will be Ryan Johnson (3-2, 3.62 ERA) who will be making his eighth start of the year. Braxton Bragg (3-1, 4.15 ERA) will get the start on Friday after throwing a no decision last Saturday. Zach Heaton (2-1, 2.28 ERA) will close out the series for the Patriots after coming off a no decision as well.
