UAB MBB Faces Charlotte in Road Test

BIRMINGHAM - UAB men's basketball (12-6, 4-1 AAC) will hit the road to face off with Charlotte (11-7, 5-1 AAC) on Tuesday night. Tipoff is set for 6 p.m. CT against the first-place 49ers. Charlotte holds an 8-1 record at Halton Arena entering Tuesday's contest.

SERIES HISTORY
The Blazers lead the all-time series 34-19, including a 13-10 advantage in Charlotte. UAB won each of its two meetings with the 49ers last season, including a 93-91, double OT win on the road.
LAST TIME OUT
UAB picked up a conference win over East Carolina on Saturday afternoon by a score of 69-61. Eric Gaines led the way with 17 points, seven rebounds and eight assists while Javian Davis added 14 points and nine rebounds. The Blazers trailed for most of the night after a slow start on the offensive end but took the lead late in the second half and did not look back.
MOST WINS OVER FOUR SEASONS
With the Blazers' win over East Carolina on January 20, 2024, Andy Kennedy earned his 90th win at UAB, which is the most by a UAB coach over his first four seasons. Mike Anderson previously held the record with 89 wins from 2002-06.
WALMART TO DI BASKETBALL
When Christian Coleman graduated from high school, he was only 6'1" and had no college basketball offers at any level. After working at Walmart for two years and playing basketball in his free time, Coleman grew to be 6'9". He was eventually presented with the opportunity to play at LSU-Alexandria, an NAIA school, where he played for one season before transferring to South Plains College in Levelland, Texas, a junior college. The Winnsboro, La. native was ranked No. 2 in the JUCORecruiting Top 100 for the 2023 class after averaging 16.0 points and 8.0 rebounds per game.
BONNIE TO A BLAZER
Alejandro Vasquez began his career at St. Bonaventure, helping the Bonnies reach the NCAA Tournament during his freshman season while averaging 6.3 points per game. Vasquez played two seasons with the Bonnies before finding himself at Salt Lake Community College in Utah. He averaged 18.4 points, 3.2 rebounds and 2.9 assists per game last year, earning first team NJCAA All-American honors. Vasquez has been a standout this season for UAB, averaging 10.6 points and 3.4 rebounds per game with three 20+ point performances including a 28-point outburst against Tulane.
