Volleyball Preview: UTSA & Tulane

BIRMINGHAM - The UAB Volleyball Team will travel to San Antonio to face off against UTSA on Friday at 4 pm. The team will also play Tulane for the second time this season at 1 pm in Bartow Arena.
The Blazers are coming off two conference sweeps in one weekend for the first time in two years. The wins came over Temple and Charlotte.
UAB is coming off a hot week with Madison Page, Kelsey Smith, and Jorda Crook all receiving player of the week honors. Madison Page currently ranks first in the conference and 118th in the nation in blocks per set with 1.13. Kelsey Smith is one of 12 players in the country to record multiple triple doubles so far this year.
UTSA started 0-6 in conference, meeting UAB for the first time this year. UAB is 5-13 against the Roadrunners, while winning the last three matchups by a score of 3-1. UAB is 1-6 all-time at UTSA with the only win coming in 2021. UTSA ranks 12th in the conference in service aces/set with 1.27.
Tulane swept UAB at home just a few weeks ago on a night where the Blazers hit just .117. The Green Wave have won two out three since the last meeting. Beating UTSA and East Carolina. Sami Jacobs ranks third in the conference in service aces/set with .41. Tulane ranks last in the conference in opponent kills, allowing 13.64/set.
