Baseball Falls Short at Jacksonville State

UAB was not able to score in the 1st inning which ended their six game streak. JSU was able to score one run in the 1st inning before a bullet by Reed Latimer from left field to home. The Gamecocks went on to score four more in the 2nd to lead 5-0.
Nick Hollifield made his first start of the year coming back from a hand injury. He played behind the plate, allowing hot hitting Jake Smallwood to move to 1st Base.
UAB struggled hitting the ball with only three hits through six innings. JSU continued to score with two home runs in the 4th to lead 12-0.
Four straight walks and then a hit by pitch scored Caden Long and Darryl Buggs. Caden Long got his first at bat of the season coming in to pinch hit in the 5th inning.
Chase Ingram and Ty Hutto both came in and got two strikeouts during their 1.0 innings pitched.
Gavin Lewis Jr. was able to get his 3rd stolen base of the season in the 6th. The three UAB hits came from Darryl Buggs, Tyler Waugh, and Reed Latimer. The Blazers picked up another run after a hard hit ball to shortstop. Nick Martinez with the RBI scoring Jake Smallwood!
The Blazers went through seven pitchers allowing 14 total runs. The final score was 14-2.
